Everyone has their own happy place. Some people like to run, swim, row, bike, boot camp or barre. I have always loved to dance. There is something so motivating, relaxing, and energizing all at the same time about the music, lyrics, and movement of a song that you can get lost in. Dance Trance brings all of the elements of that to life with a group of amazing people that put it out on the dance floor every class.
It is really about the people for me. There is no judgement, no cliques, no levels, everyone is there at their own pace just to have a good time and dance. It is our #DTTribe but for me, it has become more like a second family. I think there is a difference between going to work out because you have to and finding something you enjoy so much you are willing to drive 30-45 minutes to get to class.
I would love to say I go to every class every week without fail, but life has definitely gotten in the way and it fell off my priority list. I wanted to be there, see the new routines, be with people who understood me and I could just be myself with but I needed to find my way back and re-prioritize.
Leaving class today, I noticed myself smiling as I walked out the door. All of the songs of the two hours of class in my head, already trying to remember new and old routines for the next class, the hugs on the way out, the selfies before we go, the friendships that I have made there. It just all reminds me how important this part of my life is, these people are, and priorities shift this back to the top of the list.
Remember, you don't always have to be good, but sometimes you just need to show up and enjoy the music!
