What if...

As I sit on my patio, listen to music, while sipping on a cold LaCroix and watching Gracie cuddle with her toys as she peacefully sleeps I can't help but wonder, what if?

In life we are thrown so many curve balls, changes, adjustments, fears, joyful moments that your mind can sometimes wander and think, is it all happening for a reason or is it solely based on the choices you make? I think it has purpose. I truly believe everything does happen for a reason. My circumstances have drastically changed from one year ago, one year can change so much in a person's life. I did not see myself being here with Gracie on my patio one year ago or even 5 months ago. I guess the real question is, what if I changed with it?

I was simply reflecting on my life and thinking, I would not trade any experience, relationship, or decision. It is the combination of what you do on the journey that leads us to the destination. The hard part is, what you need to change inside to see that and reflect on the internal adjustments for outward and forward progress.

So in the midst of chaos, I sit here and scroll Facebook and Instagram trying to de-escalate from the news. I recognize that where our world is right now is an unsettling place and although I cannot control the circumstances that surround me, I can control my actions, decisions and response. Today, I am choosing joy and focus. I am appreciating the small gifts we have each day, like this beautiful weather that allows me to sit on my patio, my energetic puppy that encourages me to walk outside with her a couple of times a day, my ability to connect and reconnect with friends and my appreciation for this time to focus on my journey. There is a quote from Mac Anderson that says, "You are always one choice away from changing your life". So, what if you made that choice today?
