2020 has arrived! Let's Do This!!

Welcome 2020!!


Today we welcome a new year, a new decade, a time for renewal of self. My year in review appeared on my social media yesterday and as tears filled my eyes with memories of joy and sadness, it actually helped me bring closure to what felt like a very long and challenging year. I am truly grateful for each experience brought into my life, the good, the bad, the indifferent, the hard, the change, the defeat, the inspiration, all of it. But if I am being honest, although I have no regrets, my journey is lighter every day I don’t carry the past with me. I am taking 2019 as a true lesson in life: learn from it, grow from it and move forward.


Happy New Year! May this coming year bring you (and I) peace, joy, love and inspiration! Thank you for joining my 2020 journey!


And here we go!!!


What does Day 1 look like??


A 2-mile run/walk with Gracie. Yup, that happened. After a very fun, celebratory evening filled with amazing jalapeño honey whiskey from Burlock & Barrel, champagne, food, dancing and friends. We got up, Gracie ate breakfast, I had coffee (and Advil), a big bottle of water and we went out on our first morning adventure! A two-mile run/walk, not going to lie, the struggle was real for both of us. Not the speed I was thinking we were going to have this morning between my “recovery” and Gracie taking potty breaks and all of the New Year’s Resolution participants out running/walking this morning there were quite a few socialization visits with Gracie. Great continued training and an absolutely beautiful morning to get started! Added my photo and finish to the 20/20 Challenge Facebook Page benefiting Girls on the Run this morning as well!


So what’s next? FitGirls… it’s Wednesday so I will be meal prepping for the rest of the week. Something I really like about this plan so far is that they spell everything out for you and make it simple but cost effective and healthy as well. It is also fairly flexible so as long as you calculate you can modify and add in things you like so you stay on track. My Fitness Pal has helped with this as well to do calculations since Fit Girls does not have an app just yet.

I will post some pics and recipes as we continue through this journey.


Finally, I have decided to begin a gratitude journal this year. I was so focused on so many negative things at the end of last year, I decided this year I want to focus my energy on the positive and what I am grateful for each day. Not that every day will be easy or perfect, but my goal is to focus on gratitude, inspiration and self reflection. It’s time to gain that “2020” self-vision everyone is talking about.
