My Funny Valentine...

There are a lot of things you learn about yourself through life, some are natural, some come with age, some come with unexpected or difficult life changes. This morning on the Today Show they did a segment about love for Valentine's Day and showed small clips about love between friends, sisters, a parent's love for a child, a grandson's love for his grandmother and then they talked about what it is like to be alone on Valentine's Day. But the funny thing is, we are never alone. Some days may feel lonely but you are always surrounded by love whether it is through a pet, a parent, a sibling, a friend, or just simply your faith.
I had the pleasure of attending a friend's baby shower yesterday, surrounded by the love of friends and celebrating the love of a new little girl, it was simply beautiful. I received a special surprise from my parents. My dad brought me a gorgeous bouquet of roses and a toy for Gracie and my mom (and Gracie ;) ) gave me a card, balloon and my favorite cashews.
This Valentine's Day is just simply different for me. I am so grateful to be able to celebrate with my little Gracie and share in laughter and love with my friends and family. Every day is new and an opportunity for growth and inspiration. There is a quote I read that said, "If you aren't happy single, you won't be happy taken. Happiness comes from within, not another person". Such true words.
So today, we celebrate! Celebrate the love for each other whether a couple, a friendship, a pet, parent, sibling... wherever you are in your journey I hope you know you are surrounded by love. Currently, I am surrounded by an almost 8 month old puppy with a new squeaky toy who is circling me because she wants to play.
Happy Valentine's Day!
