One more day...

It is more than halfway through February, the days, weeks, months are really starting to fly by. Each day, I have been intentional about reflecting on what I am grateful for in my life. Each morning it starts with one more day and the importance of being grateful for that one more day. I am focusing on the life that is ahead of me and embracing that change rather than focusing on what is in my past that I cannot change.

I have had the opportunity this week to spend time with friends and family and colleagues in the senior care industry. Even when you aren't sure what your next step in life is, knowing that you are fully surrounded by people who truly make you laugh, support you and care about your future remind me of how grateful I am for one more day and the ability to spend time with them.

Yesterday, I was so fortunate to see a few of my former employees. They were smiling ear to ear and came straight over to hug me. They have advanced in their careers, just as I knew they would. One of these incredible ladies shared her gratitude towards me for that opportunity. So fortunate to have the opportunity to see them.

This week Gracie and I will be walking for the Healing Hearts Project in Jacksonville. This is a non-profit organization run by parents, caregivers, nurses and doctors in the pediatric heart community who've made it their mission to support those affected by congenital heart disease (CHD). This organization is local and provides these services to patients an their families who are treated at Wolfson Children's Hospital and/or UF Pediatric Cardiology.

I have spent a lot of time over the past few months focusing on non-profit work and giving back. Whether it is through a walk like this one for the Healing Hearts Project. A comedy show with Hilarity for Charity that supports caregivers taking care of patients affected with Alzheimer's Disease or other related dementias. Joining the Walk Committee for the Alzheimer's Association, or working on the Board for the Beaches Council on Aging to chair their Singer/Songwriter showcase event supporting Dial-A-Ride. A fully donation funded charitable organization that provides transportation to the senior and disabled community in Mayport, Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, Jacksonville Beach and Ponte Vedra Beach areas (more to come on this event later). All of these organizations and the ability to give back to our community has been an incredible experience for me and has given me a chance to learn more about myself and the joy you can have in life by giving back to a community that needs you.

I am hoping if you are reading this today, you will reflect as well on being grateful for one more day and what that means to you.
